Guadalupe

Guadalupe, or Guadeloupe (Spanish pronunciation: [ɡwaðaˈlupe]) was an early Arabic name in reference to a "river of black gravel" or "river with a black bed". The name initially became famous as a river in ExtremaduraSpain, where it also gained familiarity through the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary there, later known as Holy Mary of Guadalupe or more commonly known today as Our Lady of Extremadura.
